He discussed in that video that why kratom is illegal, and considered as a drug by the people.

Joe Rogan told in the video that due to some issue in his knee, he consumed kratom. At first, he took two pills. That caused a mild stimulating effect like a cup of coffee. This kratom was by Urban Ice Organix. Many people have to say that taking large amounts of kratom can cause fatalities. This is like the result of the intake of any other drug in enormous amounts. A quantity as much as eight pills did not cause any adverse effect. His body was able function in a proper manner, and the people cannot tell that he was high. According to him, the moderate use of kratom can have positive effects. Yet the overdose of kratom can lead to the negative effects. This is like the ones caused by having alcohol or even spending too much time in playing video games .

Joe Rogan used the term ‘high’ for stating that the large amounts of kratom consumed by him was only by mistake. He assumed that a single pill might contain only one gram of kratom. So, he took around eight pills which according to him, were equal to eight grams. He did not know that small amounts of kratom are preferable. These have to be as low as 0.5 grams. Joe Rogan started taking six pills a day which are of 750 milligrams each.

According to Joe Rogan, kratom is a Thai word. Moreover, the people use kratom to help them in getting rid of opiates and pain killers. Kratom is not an opiate itself, but it has some opiate like effects. It is also used to treat the opiate withdrawal symptoms. Like an opiate, it acts on the receptors present in the brain. Moreover, there is a lower level of risk attached to the use of it. People get addicted to opiates in short periods of time. As for kratom, they have a lower chance of getting addicted to it. Yet FDA has considered it as an opiate for ammunition to schedule as a Schedule I drug. People can also use kratom for other purposes. In Thailand, it was being used for manual labor. So, the people should avoid considering it as a drug.

The legalization of the drugs

Joe Rogan had to say that the drugs do not have to make you get addicted to them. They can have other purposes too. In various countries, people use different drugs for different purposes. Some of the people use them to get high. Others use them to treat their depression or anxiety attacks. According to Joe Rogan, schedule I drugs should get legalized. Schedule I drugs have medicinal benefits attached to them. So, making them illegal is depriving the people of the advantages that they may get by the use of it. Psychedelics, in a similar manner, help in getting rid of harmful behavior patterns. They enable a person to rethink and reassess on certain issues in his or her life.

Furthermore, he addresses that a person feels the shame to use drugs like kratom. This is because of the society they live in. If there is no societal pressure, the people could use it without any hesitation. He does not deny the side effects attached to the use of kratom. Yet he thinks that everyone needs to take a risk such as the consumption of drugs in their life. The people need to have a mindset that the lower amounts doses can have some positive effects on the bodies too. Still the people should think about the state of consciousness after consuming kratom. A lower number of milligrams can help the people in not losing their consciousness.
